Q. When did you start playing cricket?
A. I started playing in mid of 2017. Before that I used to play only on Sundays.
Q. How did you discover you are a 2nd down batsman?
A. I like to open and always have been fond of that position. As I started training under my coach Gaurav Negi, he played me at 2nd down. Even my captain at that time, Hemant Rehal told me that I am best fit for 2nd down.
I still wanted to play as an opener but I didn’t get the chance to but slowly I realized that I am really good as a 2nd down and started enjoying the position.
In whichever team I go now I usually call for the 2nd down position and have scored a lot of runs in that position. I thank my coach and Hemant Rehal for this.
Q. Tell me about your journey till now?
A. There are a lot of struggles when you want to become a player. I am still struggling to play Ranji Trophy but people seem to criticise more rather than supporting.
My father is my motivation and that has helped me keep going. Slowly my game improved and people check the CricHeroes stats whenever I go to play somewhere and that has earned me a lot of respect in the circuit I play in.
Q. How was the support from your family?
A. My family has always supported me and I was also a part of Sehwag Sir’s academy but I didn’t get much chance to play. Maybe If I got a chance to prove myself I could’ve been playing at a higher level at the moment.

My family has never stopped me from playing cricket even after that and has always been there when I needed them. Even my coach, Gaurav Negi has been by my side and has supported me like my family.
Q. What are your ambitions going forward?
A. Right now I’ve got a chance to represent Bengal in 1st Division. I want to focus on that completely and perform at my best and rest I think CricHeroes stats will help me as well. In the future I want to play in the Ranji trophy and if possible play for India.
Even if I don’t get to that level, I won’t be depressed as I love to play cricket and being on the ground and playing cricket means everything to me.
